Game Feel - Week 1
Changelog (week 1)
Walking
- Added sprint (hold shift, speed = 5, default walk speed = 3)
- Slightly increased player animation speed
- Player animation speed further increases while sprinting
Jumping
- Increased gravity (1 -> 2)
- Fixed y-velocity being set to 0 when releasing jump button (jump deceleration now works properly)
- Fixed player not being able to jump while hugging walls
- Added coyote time (0.2 seconds)
- Added jump buffer (0.2 seconds)
Particles
- Added dust particles when sprinting and landing
- Added boost particles when jumping
- Added particles to slime death to simulate the slime exploding
Camera
- Changed camera zoom to be slightly more zoomed in
- When sprinting, camera zooms out slightly
Audio
- Lowered music volume (~0.3 -> 0.1)
- Added sound effect to start of sprint
- Changed slime death sound
Other
- Added screen shake: Light shake when jumping, heavy shake when killing enemy
- Changed colours of the level
- Changed the slime hitbox, as it did not align with the sprite
- Made slime disappear instead of fall, to make the explosion work
Known issues
- Walk sounds do not match animation (could not locate the source of the audio)
- Music and jump sounds have not been replaced yet
